I pay about $2100 for 6 months full coverage with a $500 ded with progressive insurance. They are the least expensive out of the ins co that would carry me. I only insure the car for $5000 because that's what I bought it for, but after it was repainted I felt like it was worth about $10,000 and insurance was $4200 so I changed it back. They will only insure it for a stated amount. I don't think they like to insure 21 year olds that drive camaros. The things I do to drive my Z28.

i had the same proble, but get this, i own a '74 camaro Type LT, i pay roughly $280mo, but since i pulled the engine outta it, ive been driving my '75 pontiac esprit and i only pay $114mo, with the same company,.... if youve seen these two cars, the bodies are almost identical.... the pontiac has a stock 350ci BBP, and my camaro had a stock 350ci SBC, i dont understand how they rate their customers, my pops says that the pontiac is a "Luxury" model....last i checked so was the Type LT...anyways go figure, its expensive to be an 18 year old 2nd gen fan....*sigh* its a rough life
    take care

You can blame me... Insurance paid out around $10K to repair my 78 due to a few mishaps when I was your age. (Hence, my board name. [IMG] ).

I pay 30.00 a month through Farmers for 24,000 value of the car, full coverage. I guess thats the only thing good about hitting 40.

I know what you mean. When I was a teenager, my insurance payments were often close to double my car payments.

I pay a lot less now at 40.

I bet it rates change a lot depending where you are located too.

Yes, big cities suck. They have much higher accident rates, and much higher theft rates than rural areas, so it is only fair that cars in large cities get charged rates that reflect the risk they are at.

    kid--
Will your parents put you on their ins. instead of getting your own? My parents "owned" & insured my Firebird as a third car until I was 21. I did this for the first few years (I also took a chance and went liability only) and only had to pay ~600 a year. Doing it this way they didn't care what kind of car it was. On my own rate doubled for liability and went to ~2500 for collision.
I'm sure rates have gone up in the past 17 years, but it worked at the time.
