Looks like an early door(70-74) but not sure.
This inner door handle pic is from a 79 , looks a bit different than yours

Thank you for the pic . That clip looks like it would work with inner door latch pictured above as it doesn't have the raised area on the handle part like the pic i posted.
if someone has a early inner door handle and rod with clip can u post a pic of it installed ? I tried with mine and it won't go

Thank u for the picture. I don't see how that clip would hold it in at the inside door handle.
It must just be there to push down pressure on it and not actually lock it in like I thought

It will hold tension on the rod in the handle hole and keep it from rattling

If you go to my pictures album and start at picture 388 there are some that might help. Not sure exactly how good they are but maybe some help. If you click on a picture then click on "original" they are high def.

Happy_Dan .. thanks for the pictures ...Iv'e used them so many times for my project. Wish i took detailed photos like yours upon initial Disassembly.
yours looks like clip is gone also on the rod near the inner door handle Like Jbloakes pic above. Or maybe there isn't one .
Right now I have my clip like jbloakes picture above which doesn't lock it in but pushes against the handle .
And that's the only way I can see it fitting

I have never seen that style clip installed in that manner. It looks as if the clip has been “squished” in order to fit on the top. If it were opened up again I think it would fit with the loop over the rod on the other side of the latch tang and still clip onto the rod

That's the problem it won't fit over the "knub" raised part on the chrome handles I posted . If there were completely flat yes . But they aren't .
Hard to describe unless u try you will see .

Never thought this clip would be such a mystery.
