I bought a larger one of Craigslist from a closed down shop, it has a full size 55 gal drum under it. I adjusted the pump to sit about half way up then fill it up with water to about 5" below the suction of the pump. added 20 of mineral spirits on top of the water being they will not mix. now all the heavys fall out into the water and the suction stays free and clean. when comes time to clean it out i pump all the mineral spirits into clean 5 gal pals till i lose flow. I lower the pump to get the last little bit out then just change out the water in the btm real easy to do

Here is mine, the pump was froze up today. First time it was turned on in a few months. Had to spin the impeller a little to jump start it and it started working again.

I've been using mineral spirits in mine for a few years. It gets dirty, so I change it out when it gets pretty black. The first stuff I used was a biodegradeable cleaner from Northern Tool which smelled like dirty diapers and wouldn't wash spit off a bolt, much less dirt or grease.

Be sure not to use the water based cleaners in your machine, they will rust your machine. You can buy chemicals through Car quest or your local parts store. Or as others have quoted here
