Tried something new today. I went to South Mountain Raceway, a small 1/8 mile track about a hour and a half away. I made it to the second round of eliminations. This was the first time I raced on a 1/8 mile track. IMG_20170904_104845193.jpg IMG_20170904_104919045.jpg IMG_20170904_104950923.jpg IMG_20170904_104955133.jpg

best was a 7.76@86.14. The DA was about 2150 feet all day. The 60 foot times were 1.64 to 1.65.

Welp, today I winterized the car. I drained out the water from the cooling system and added antifreeze. I also jacked the car up and put it on jack stands so the tires will not flat spot. I'm now waiting until spring until I can come back out. I just need to do spring maintenance before I hit the track.

Do you pull the shafts/rockers, drain & spray carb, fuel pump, or just leave her all winter??

I turn it over every Saturday year round so the same valves are not open all the time. The carb is drained, even though it's getting tore apart in the spring. I didn't do anything with the fuel pump this year.

Good, I know plenty of guys get lazy in the winter and forget about how much pressure the springs have when fully compressed.

Yep, first couple of races guys are scattering there engines because they don't back off the rockers or don't turn over the engine periodically. Also I have heard stories of guys never changing there oil at the beginning of the season. On the spring to do list is change the oil, change the plugs, work on the carb, new front shocks, and new front tires. Also any time the car is in the garage the battery is on a float charger.
