Identification assistance 1972 Z28

    The Tach will have a date code on the back but you have to remove it to read it. That will tell you if it's original or not.
    FWIW... my 70 L78 came with a Z28 tach from the factory, thou the L78 & Z28 still had the same red line. Just that the L78 stopped at 7K versus 8K for the Z28.

    Some one might have swapped out the entire cluster over the years as a way to turn back the mileage. The VIN tells you if it is a Z so it either is or isn't. I was thinking that maybe the car came without the gauge package and someone swapped the cluster in to have a tach. Were Z's available without a tach?

    FWIW, my 73Z came with idiot lights and the big fuel gauge with no factory tach. Had a big ol' Sun tach clamped to the steering column. I'm switching to the U14 gauges.
