https://boise.craigslist.org/pts/5945792606.html. what one is this and is it a good deal? I'm running a T-5 5spd and would like something to hold more power. Would love a m22

10 spline input, i'm guessing you'll need a new clutch as well.

When did gm move to 26 spline input shafts?

!st 26/32 spline Muncie offered was in the 1970 Chevelle 454. My 1970 Chevelle SS 396/350 came with a 10/27 spline Muncie.

Jody is correct that the 26 spline started 1970 in the M22 and 71-74 in all the Muncies

The Camaro in 70 still used the 10 spline input shaft with the M22.

The trans code from the picture is P8E28...which means...built May 28, 1968. I'm guessing it's an M-20. I bought my '74 M-20 at the Charlotte AutoFair about 3 years ago for $800. Mine has the 26 spline input, 32 spline output and 1 inch countershaft. Also, mine has an "A" at the end of the code to tell me it's an M-20...not all of them have the extra letter on the end. I bolted it in and filled with the Sta-Lube GL-4 gear oil and it has been a great transmission so far. Hope this helps.

    So it's either a m20-21 not the m22 I was hoping for. My gear now is a 3.08 but I have another 12 bolt sitting that's got a 3:73 setup 26"ish tire.
