I've been mining for information on the late development of the HEI and its availability. Searching publications from the day seems to be the best. Some writers seemed like they were upset over the lack of development. Well after digging for a few years I think I have info on a engineer that worked on the project. Fingers crossed that he'll reply.[IMG]

The HEI is a very reliable ignition system. And there are lot of aftermarket modifications you can make to it. Coils ,ignition boxes, modules and the like. It all depends on what you want to do with the car. I have 1979 Z-28 RS Camaro With an HEI distributor with an extra High output coil and a Crane HI-6TR .For my 500 HP plus Supercharged small block Chevy. You can talk to Aftermarket manufactures like MSD ,Crane ,Accell to name a few. Good luck to you. 130044932860518017_26257430996_o (1).jpg
