    I like guns, I have a few ;)

but I do NOT have a 50 BMG, and I feel like I should

SERBU RN-50 these are about $1200 plus a bipod & buttstock

ammo is scarce other than the $5/round Hornady 750 gr A Max....but I don't mind

Do you have range with a minimum distance of 2k yards

muscl car is right. A gun like that needs room. Is PA that big? You might consider moving to the desert with muscl car. He has room there for a .50 to reach out and touch something.

The Rural King gun counter has an S&W .500 for a really good price. I haven't bought it for several reasons. Like you, the ammunition is rather pricey, I don't know where I'd use it and I'm not sure I'll have the oomph to fire it a second time.

Feeling the need for a bigger gun.

    It's a midlife thing... You'll get over it. ;)

Buddy got a savage in .50 cal and it was not accurate the bolt face was .008" off and many other issues with it and he had long ranges to test it out.
He had it accurized and it now shoots awesome.

He shot an antelope at 800 yards in the side and it removed the gut sack. He showed me the picture and I asked what is that rock behind the antelope about 15 feet away he said it was not a rock it was the gut pile.
    Awesome!

Get one if you like to have one ..same deal as a 540" BBC in a street car the smaller BBC would probably work just as well but braggin' rights you know.

And learn to reload your own ammo and save a lot on the shooting of the Big Gun.
Save up on a really good spotting scope to spot your shots also

Yep there's an outdoor shooting area just South of Barstow called Hodge rd . Plenty of room to safely shoot a .50bmg , .338 lapua or .375 Cheytac

A .338 Lapua is more than enough and easily hit targets at 2700 yards

NOT interested in long range shooting....I'd probably never shoot the thing over 200 yards

no different than a guy with a 500 horsepower car that has never seen a dragstrip
