I was wrestling with how to best finish my garage for a few years and finally got inspired to do it this fall. I didnt want to tape and text the walls for lack of durability and was also trying to do it on a budget. So I found that quite a few people have used corrugated galvanized metal panels to cover the walls to a chair rail or sorts. I decided to take that a step further.

Heres what i did.. Taped and textured the ceiling flat joints only, no inside or outside corners. Bought 800 sqft of 2.5 corrugated 29 ga panels and a bunch of 1x3 and 1x2 cedar strips. I put the 1x3 cedar on the bottom and butted the panels into the strip. I ran the panels to the ceiling within a half inch then covered that with the 1x2 cedar strip. The panels were installed over insulated and sheetrocked walls. So I had to mark out the studs when installing the bottom trim then i had a target for my screws. It turned out ok. Im thinking of burying a red or other colored rope light in the trim for evening parties and extra light effect.

Looks good man! I've been contemplating about what to do with mine, but it will be next year before I do anything. I dig this look.
