I'm looking real hard at a Atlas FM9SL lift , its flush with the floor
I've had one of these lifts for 9 years. I've only got a 10' ceiling and the columns on this clear by a few inches. I can put the Camaro and other short cars all the way up and a truck about 1/2 way up.
Love my Direct Lift in my Tandum
Okay ... I had my car on the lift and I decided to take pictures for you. I set the ruler at 9' 3" and then used the 3" from the case to give you 9' 6". Here is the car on the safety at 5' 8".
As you can see you have about 3-5" to the ceiling.
Now here is the car on the locks at 5' 8" ... the 8" inches above would allow you to go up to release the locks.
At this point it is up to you but man do I love my Mohawk lift.
I hope this helps.
FYI: My Tandum garage floor-ceiling height is 9' 4" high 8' 4" usable cuz opener is 12". Car on top is 4' 3" high
Keep in mind this allows for travel above the lock so there is enough room for a car underneath. I have had a 79 corvette and a 79 and 69 z28 Camaro under it. The Direct lift allows easy adjustment for the height where the locks engauge.
You guys are great! I gotta study your posts!
By the way, do you feel you have adequate room to stand under your lifts and do work?
My garage was built knowing I would have a lift in it so if you look at the picture I have about 5ft above the car I have 16ft ceilings and the shape is like the car, I have had my car up to the rafter and that is 7ft high.
At the height I showed you would work for me because I am 5'8' but I believe you said you are 6'8" then you would work but at a disadvantage ... but you can pull your transmission and do exhaust work ... the best part you can do you brakes because you don't need to go more than 5'8" to be chest level.
I'm about 6 feet tall. I think just being able to lift it up 5 feet would be a big help.
