Ok, this might be a silly question but...
Do the Inner Wheel Wells bolt to the Fenders or do the Fenders bolt to the Wheel Wells?
So to clarify... when you look into the wheel well opening, do you see
"bolt head, wheel well, fender" or "bolt head, fender, wheel well"?
Duz the nut clip slide onto the fender or the wheel well?

Bonzo... that what im thinking but a buddy of mine sez it should be the other way around...
I'm putting the front end of my 73 together and he was helping me and he go into my head...
He sez his 72 is the opposite way... he is bringing it over Sunday to show me...

    Thanks for your time

    The picture above is correct.

However.... The driver's side of mine is done the other way because the reproduction inner fender fit better that way. (I tried both ways multiple times.)
This allows just a little more tire clearance if you're running a larger wheel/tire combination.

My passenger side is done correctly and makes it possible to separate the inner fender for access to the heater hoses and blower.

The way Bonzo showed it is correct. 1st gens are done the other way round. Perhaps your friend saw a 1st gen and did his the same or maybe that’s what happened way back when a previous owner (previous to your friend) put your friends ‘72 together.
