I currently have stereo hooked to back speakers only. Front blown. I have no desire to get at that speaker, as my dash is solid, and I don't want to tear into it from below. Nor do I want to cut into my nice side doors. Isn't there some kind of mini speaker (similar to the powerful blue tooth Mini's they work so well) that I could hide somewhere inter dash?

I know it seems like a pain and a lot of work to take the lower dash off, but it really isn't too bad a job. Once it is off you can reach up there to take out the old speakers and put new ones in. You could do it in an afternoon no problem.

You could look at motorcycle speakers and maybe mount them on the front pillars as an alternative

On your 79.... You can get to the old speaker by removing the gauge bezel and cluster.

I gutted the factory speaker and mounted a pair of 3.5" speakers in the frame and added tweeters to the top of the "A" pillars.
