This is a fancy HD video converter that may be of some use to you. I don't know for sure, but I was thinking it may be able to convert the files some of you spoke about which the cable and dish companies use as the format for their DVR.

    It's free until 12:00 am, Dec 16, 2009
    Normally $39.95

Don't forget Firefox. Although most of you should already have it.

I just want to mention again how important imaging software is. Avast AV had a virus data base update yesterday that was riddled with false positives. There is a multi page thread over at the BBR security forum. It was a huge disaster for some, because they were actually deleting important system files that Avast was claiming to be Trojans and virus infections. Some of those people can't even get their systems to boot now, and others can't get online.

I run Avast, and was having the same issue. I just waited until today, and restored an image I created two days ago. Today's virus data base update fixes the issue so I let Avast update after the image restore. Presto! Just like it didn't happen!!

Don't let this seem like Avast dropped the ball. They fixed it really fast, and FP's happen with any AV.

I don't remember. I have an entire bookmark folder with deals among deals.

Have you tried that software? Weren't you the one looking for a way to retrieve shows from a Comcast DVR?
