on a drive this past saturday i decided to take the long way home..... i came acrossed a camaro recently pulled from a storage place (behind a shed) into the yard and ofcourse i had to stop and see if it was for sale. i knew it was atleast a 70 - 73 from the distance. the owner of the property gave me the number for his nephew who ownes the car and gave me permission to look it over and call him.
well as i approached the car it got worse and worse. major rot in every panel including the a pillars. then i noticed the z28 wheels through the weeds. as i got to the car my heart sank due to the condition. i looked inside to see the 4 speed shifter sticking through the console. then the type lt horn button, the black deluxe wood grain interior...... the 6,000 redline tach.... i popped the hood and the original unmolested lt1 was still in place. i checked the data tag and it is most definately a lt z28 4 speed lt1. this car is rough. needs every single piece of sheetmetal outside and inside. even the subframe has holes.... but its an untouched unmolested car with """47,587"""" original miles (confirmed class a title). i spoke to the owner of the car and he has "some sentimental attachments" to the car but might consider selling it. ok guys i know what its worth in restored condition and what most of the parts are worth. i do not think this car is worth restoring due to it would take a major bank account and luck to do it, but i would love the drivetrain for my own 73 z28. im just trying to figure out what my top price should be before i walk away from the deal..... i offered 1000.00 cash and he said he will think about it..... whats the most you would pay for a completely rotted but untouched low mileage z28 type lt? i know pics would help but just imagine the rust...

Yeah it's hard to tell without pictures. Who knows maybe he'll take your offer of a 1000 cash. Maybe go as high as 1800? Why would somebody just let that car rot away?

I pay $1000 for rusted out POS 79 Camaro parts cars all the time

a 73 LT would be a hell of a great parts car!

I agree with maverick but you know that the 73 did NOT have the LT1. I think it was called the L82 which has a few differences than the LT1.

I bet you could part it out for a lot more money than 1800.00 . The little items (smog pieces), air cleaner , valve covers, Muncie, rear end, interior items , it it is truely all there would bring alot of money on ebay.

If it was truly "sentimental" to the owner, he would have taken better care of it!! smh
