Instrument lamps are always full bright when the ignition switch is on, 1971 Camaro RS/SS. Replaced headlamp switch many years ago(before the internet-yes, I'm old), and nothing changed. Camaro was always like this since it bought in 1983. Wiring to switch looks original and wiring to printed circuit looks original. Any thoughts?

It sounds like the wire powering the lights is in the wrong position on the light switch or you have a shorted harness putting full 12v on it.

Your electrical problem is older than many NastyZ members!

Somehow... You are getting ignition voltage to the grey wire which supplies power to the instrument lights.

Did someone bridge the fuse block at the INST LMPs fuse? (It's the little one.)
    An extra wire there, maybe?

Does the dome light come on when you rotate the headlight switch knob?
