Electrical issue, High voltage

    One of my beaters back in the day was a AMC, it would over charge, burned out all in the dash, radio everything. It would boil the battery dry. It was a ford alternator lol, Vinsetta Garage was the place to get it rebuilt, now it's a yuppie bar, wtf.

    Update, I took it to a parts store with a machine, the thing is making 27 volts, lol
    I didn't know that was even possible to have that much!!
    I ordered a Reg. (35 bucks ) and some brushes (5 bucks), they will be here tmrw,
    I'll give it a shot soldering it in there , let ya all know what happens

    If you decide to get a reman, application would be a 1990 chevy 1500 with a 5.7 TBI. You would probably have to change the pulley. The whole thing is like 65 bucks from Rock auto.

    Ok , i clean the box , battery reads 13.08 on the bench
    I can see where the acid shot out of vent in the inside of the SS box

    low on water maybe, but would not take a chance., have alt checked new battery

    If it blew acid out, I'd be really leery of that battery. I've never seen 27 volts from an alternator before. Not a 12 volt system anyway.

    The auto parts store must not have had the alternator hooked up to a battery when tested. You can't push a 12 system to 27 volts if a battery is present.

    That looks like hold down damage, not from over charging.
