Just taking everything apart to replace hinge pins and bushings in my 78. When I removed the spring the "roller" bearing or detent bearing (not sure proper name) just fell out. Is this normal or is there another bushing required for it?
And the spring I got from Speedway is shorter than the one I took out. It's also marked 68-74 on the bag. Anyone know if this is the correct replacement?

The spring doesn't look like it will work... I doubt the hinge tab will fit inside of it properly. (And too short)
    Send it back.

    Thanks CamaroRus,
My original roller bearing has the radius groove instead of flat. Does the flat roller bearing still work well with the factory detent arm?

    Thanks Twisted_Metal,
I will be sending the springs back. I went and checked the part number on Speedway's web site again and they state it's good for a 78, but obviously it's not. Do you think it's necessary to replace the spring? Mine doesn't seem too bad.

    Those springs are quite tough.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen one break so it should be fine to reuse.

I spring compressor made for the job simplifies reinstallation.

Yes I do have the spring compressor, worked great getting springs out.
I think I'll reuse my original springs.
    Thanks again and Merry Christmas!
