Here's my mess of a garage as of last week:

I already started building a work bench out of the storage compartment that was in the corner behind the Camaro in that pic. It was 12', but I built the bench at 8' because I couldn't find a 12' butcher block for a work surface under $1000. What should I do with the extra space? I have an air hose reel that will be next to the compressor, but thinking maybe a nice new tool box could go right next to the bench.

I like the little shelf on top of the bench. I need to add one of those to my bench.

    VERY nice bench.

Buy a piece of 1/4" (or thicker) steel that's wide enough to fit front to back on your bench and about 2' long. Mount your vice on it. That will give you a solid base to do heavy duty work on like HAMMERING something that deserves it!

I need to add a backstop-shelf on my bench too. Crap likes to fall off the back thanks to the cat.

I was thinking something similar for that extra 4' of space by the compressor. I searched craigslist for a beat up butcher block that I wouldn't care about beating up...but steel could work too. We have a nice 2" butcher block at work from an old work bench that would be perfect...but I'm sure someone would notice if it disappeared! haha

I have a surprise for the wall above the bench too. I'll get it done and snap a pic before I tell anyone about it though. I think it will be cool.

Ordered a toolbox combo today and got some detailing work done on it this weekend. I'll make everyone wait to see the final product though! haha
