Does anyone have an original under dash Delco 8 track player installed on their 70 Camaro?
I am looking into installing one on mine, since I still have 3 cases of my original eight tracks I had back in high school. They all still work. I had a console mounted Delco 8 track in my 69 Z28 I played them in. Obviously not going for the sound quality, but the patina back in the day.
My 70 Camaro is a non console car, so this under dash unit would work. I assume not too many had them since a lot of the cars had consoles and only a front and one rear speaker.
Pictures of what the original ones looked like would be great.

Interested and following. Never seen one. For sure it would have been a dealer installed option and there most likely was a tech document as to how to do.
A friend has one in his 70 Grand Prix and it mounts on the trans hump backwards behind the console in front of the back seats. Could they have done the same on 70 console cars?

I remember a buddy back in high school bought a new 67 SS Chevelle with the Delco player on the floor under the dash. Really one heck of a tape player for the time. One heck of a car too. But probably a $1000 deck these days. If you find something post it up on here, interesting.

There a lot of GM 8 track pic available by searching 1970 Camaro 8 track player/images. You'll have to do some searching to find a 70 player among all the other years pictured.
The 1970 Chevrolet Accessories booklet (below)gives a pn of 993654 for the "basic unit" tape player for a Camaro.
PN 993702 is the basic unit (with D55) inst pkg.
Then there is the GM Numerical Accessory Parts List which lists a 1970 Camaro AM Radio & Tape Player Combination with
    pn 994023.

I collect audio / hi-fi gear and have a removable under-dash mount Panasonic 8-track player, if you're interested. You're probably looking for OEM, but thought I'd put it out there. Looking to sell off some of my collection. This thing is mint / like new and includes a docking station and two Panasonic speakers for in-home use. I can send pics if you're interested. Works great. I have a handful of tapes. It is definitely 70's era. Needs a good home in a 70's period car. Just haven't had the time to list it.
