The 73 non A/C Z28s have the same pulleys as the LT1 excluding the alternator.

It was more or less to do with the rear gear with the z28 . With air is a 3.42 with out 3.73 . You can get any engine to spin 7 grand solid lift or not . Is it still making power , doubtful . The compressor is good to about 6000 rpm before it possibly detonates . Compressors were expensive to replace under warranty . Reducing the max rpm ( in gear ) help for this . There was AC on the solid lift LT1 vette in 72 due to demand.

On the 72 Vette LT-1 with air the tach had a reduced redline of 5600 to save the compressor.
Im glad you brought up tachs, This one has a 5000 redline. Is it correct for the ac cars????
Not really . It was only available with auto trans and 3.55 rear was the steepest and only gear available . Unless you got something that says it had an electronic rev limiter. Hell , it still had points in 72 .
