I graduated high school in 1970 and I remember them as being semi shiny but my buddy had a yellow Z28 and he never waxed the back panel. That was a long time ago and I would not put any money on my memory. I'm going to do mine shiny semi gloss.

Just had a thought. Possibly if someone can get their paint chips chart out from 1970, 1971 & 1972 from Ditzler and other paint manuf., maybe the SS rear panel paint code would be listed there? I have a 1974 Ditzler paint chips chart for chevy and shown there is the listed paint code for trunk interior. That's the only place I ever saw that in print.

Found a 1970 RM Chevy paint chips chart. Nothing in print about SS rear panel, only Z28 stripes. 1970 Chevy paint chips_RM.jpg

    For the stripe colors:
    A-946 Black
    A-1802 White
I don't know about tuxedo black since its not on chart. Maybe black was available as special order option for Chevy line.

Below are pics of 69' COPO Tail Panels that Frank Arone painted and the Super
Car Workshop restored.... The "experts" at www.yenko.net have never come up
with a conclusive formula for the tail panel black....

Charley Lillard had a survivor paint 69 COPO I saw at Carlisle where the tailpanel
    was quite "glossy"
