    Hi there
I am trying to put back the original radio to my camaro z28 1978 , I found a good one on ebay(GM 2700 with 4 channels) . My question can use aftermarket speakers to connect to the radio? Or a need a special setup?
Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks

Not sure about 78, but the earlier second gens needed a 10 ohm speaker resistance or the radio would blow its output transistor. Most aftermarket speakers are 4 ohm resistance. 8 ohm I heard will also work if you can find them. Are the stock speakers marked with a 10?

Thanks for replying, I replaced the front speaker with aftermarket one and I think the back speaker is still original (I am a way from the car to check it) but now I have aftermarket radio which installed which and I attend to replace it with original one. Is there a way to use aftermarket speakers with old GM radio.

There may be "impedance adapters" or similar that you can wire inline with the positive speaker wire that converts a 4 ohm to 8 or 10 ohm output. Crutchfield or one of the Delco radio repair shops may be able to help you

I used aftermarket speakers in my 78 Cutlass with no issues. You will have to use the existing speaker wires from the radio to the speaker. The connector to the radio is a plug.

No converter. I picked up 2 speakers, 3.5 from Best Buy and plugged them in.

    I wasn't aware of a 4 channel stereo for a 78 Camaro.
There's only 1 speaker in the front.

Some Firebird/Trans Ams had speakers in the corners of the dash but I think that was only in 80-81.

It's not the original that came with car but bought through eBay with same GM number 2700 and it's fit perfectly the radio opening. I am not expert in these radio but through my research I think it's a 4 channel radio .
