so now I know what it is and what it does, has anyone bypassed this. I do have a strong odor of fuel especially in the summer and finally i know where it's coming from. Any info on bypassing this would be greatly appreciated.

I ditched the one in my 71.

Trace the lines back to the fuel tank then pull off the rubber hoses and cap the connections on the tank. Be sure you are running a vented gas cap if you go this route.

I would also pull the rear seat and get rid of the cannister also. Probably worth checking in with the "numbers matching" guys to see if anyone needs one for a judged show car.

I was thinking of filling mine with concrete, painting it to match my Camaro and using it as an anchor for my boat. But, that is just me.
