    so...here is my scenario.

I pulled my 383 Edlebrock TPI and 700R4 out of my third gen 89' RS.
I am selling the 89' with the intent to by a 78-81' Camaro.
I used to own an 80' Berlinetta....and I miss it.

So i am on the hunt.
When i find the right car, i want to be ready to drop the engine in.

In the mean time, i plan on changing the cam out.
I based the converter on what cam i thought was in my engine, but it was not that....

Looking for suggestions. What do you guys like, what has worked well, what should i stay away from.

Here is what I have and plan on:

    383
    Performer RPM heads
3400 stall speed converter (Precision Industries Vigilante')
    TCI 700R4

    Plan on running a 3:73 gear with a 275/60r15 tire(have the tires/wheels already)

Prob goin with a Street Demon or Holley Avenger carb and an RPM intake to replace the Edlebrock HI-FLO TPI with 52mm TB and 24LB injectors(also for sale....polished)

Have a vac canister for the brake booster already.

    All suggestions appreciated

Roller cam for sure. That's a decent amount of converter to work with. What are your intentions to do with the car?

If you pick a cam that maxes out that coverter...you may lean toward a lower rear gear with that size tire and 4 speed auto. I'd say at least a 4.10 gear out back.

    Thanks Golden,

    Rollers can get expensive.
The car will be a cruise car, weekend warrior, track time, and to work on nice days (a good bit here in GA)
Money is an object, due to my daughter's horse habit!

Want that lopey sound, but utilize as much of a power band that I can. A street dominating ride is my goal!!

Looking at your list, I would work with someone or some company (custom grinder) to spec you out what you really need.

Also, with an 11.41 overall first gear ratio, and your CI, you may find that a single plane would be more fitting.

What's your thoughts on an Isky 280 mega cam?
Single plane intake, like a Brodix ?

I am in Dallas...20 min west of downtown Marietta....

If you're stuck on a thumping, street dominating flat hydraulic lifter, I can only wish you luck. With all the cam lobe failures going on with flat tappets, you can pay the price up front, or double it after the failure. Good luck with your project.

that converter" on the street" will do nothing but slip if it's not a lockup. I'd stay at about 26-2800
