I'l probably just buy a case, stick the battery in there and vent it...
I used a Moroso box, nice piece, seals up well, and comes with tubing and grommets to vent it. Kind of large though.....
Here is an Optima Red Top that has the holes to connect vent tubes to:
I searched high and low for vent holes on mine and it has none...
Adding to what I've seen is some people will never have a vent or have been in need of one and that is their choice.
I kinda wonder with some not having white powder around and uou having it, could you have a very small hairline crack in the case ?. You might also might be having a higher input voltage like 15.5V off of your charging system to your battery causing the issue while another person that does not has let's say 13 volts off of the charging system to the battery.
This too is from Optima:
Vent tube nipple on an Optima blue top:
And pop off vents on an optima Red Top:
And on an Optima Yellow Top:
And other info from Optima:
NHRA Rules state no battery box needed !!
My vent. Found some conduit that closely matched a hole saw. Drilled the hole and glued a plastic washer and conduit inside the hole. Made it tall enough that water wouldn’t get into the trunk.
Yeah, mine has those. Wonder if I can pop those off and run some vent tubes into those... I'll probably give Optima a call on Monday...
I wonder if it is anything like the Yellow Top I showed above with the round gray part removed to expose the blue cap which then pulled off exposes a short nipple below it ?.
I would think Optima would tell you how to run their product. Post back with who you talked to and what they said.
