With all the other expense I can't bring myself to spend over $100 on repop battery cables right now. So I want to go with universal side post cables. The ones I took off were fabricated with a clamp on battery terminal and don't want to reuse or use them as a guide.

Anybody know what lengths are proper for our cars? I assume all small blocks would be the same but to be specific, 74 Z28 4 speed if it matters.

Spend the money. Good cables are worth it.

I'm not planning on buying bad cables, just ones that aren't concours correct.

Been several years but CarQuest, NAPA and others carried cables in varying lengths with factory connections on both ends.

Good info. Rock auto offers both Standard Motor and AC cables for my application. The ground from both has "25" within the P/N and the positive has "40".

I've always purchased new battery cables from local auto parts stores. Simply tell them what car it is for and they can get you the correct length.
