I am trying to decide what tire to use on my 74 z28. I see a lot of firestone wide ovals on the 74 z28 cars. I do believe the goodyear polyglas gt were used also. Can anyone confirm what tire may have been installed more than the other?

GM always had more than one tire manufacturer supplying their tires so they couldn't get caught short on tires. Pick the one you like best.

Thanks Gary, I like them both. I have goodyears on my 70 z28. I like the firestones better on the 74 z28s. Maybe more opinions will steer me to the firestones.

In '75 I bought Firestone Wide Ovals for my 71 Z28 at $67 ea. At the time I didn't check to see if Good Years were available. I liked the Firestone look. I saw more Firestone Wide Oval tires back in the day than I did Good-Year Polyglass tires.

Ron, when I purchased my 74 Z28 back in May 1975, it came original with the five Firestone Wide Ovals F-60's! My Z28 had 14, 8?? miles on it when I bought it.

I vote for the Firestone, it just looks right on the 74.

I have the original spare with my 72 - Wide Oval.

I have the re-pros on the car now. I like em, they look cool. They do grab the grooves in the road, but I've grown used to it. Loud as all get out on burn outs too!

For 74 Z28 the std factory tire was the wide oval . That's the tire in the original litature and paperwork with my car. Looks ok but they are awful tires IMO.

I never saw anything else on the. Dealer lot in 74 but those Firestone s on Z28's

Local dealer had dozen or so new Z28.s and all had the Firestone .

I changed mine out to T/A radials ASAP at a GoodRich dealer and was so happy :)

I liked the taller G series Radials s that came on the 77 Z 28 .....handled like a dream compared to those awful Firestones.

That's because it is the correct tire :)
