    Hey George,

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the EGR valve should be MT 7040299. I haven't been able to find one for over 10 years. Anyone know of one for sale?

Yes, the MT 7040299 EGR valve is for a 4 speed 74 Z28. The EGR valve I listed in my post KM 7041413 is for an TH400 which is what originally came on my 74 Z28. Both of these EGR's are very hard to find. I will be on the look out for a 4 speed EGR valve for you.

Thanks to George! He sent me a note telling me of the correct EGR valve for my 4 speed car on Ebay, and I bought it right away. Thanks again, George!! I had stopped looking and thought I would never find one.

When the previous owner went thru the engine he replaced all the tin with chrome. I don't have any of the original covers. So a regular SB oil pan works with the windage tray?

No a regular pan will not work. You will need the oil pan for the windage tray. I have my original off my motor. I will try to get some pictures posted.

The balancer was the 8" wheel. Or HiPer . This will require the correct timing cover . I'm guessing your missing this cover too . It was painted orange with the welded on tab . You might find one on eBay ..I've seen them on there.

If you need the aluminum valve covers.....get the style with screw on chrome fill cap .....not the the ones with the rubber stopper cap. I'd look for an original pair if I were you, the repop is not so great , diff material, too shiney , poor sealing amoung other defects.:)

Sounds like a fun project, they are very unique cars with generally pretty unique owners. Getting it back 100% will be a challenge but as you can see these guys look for what each other needs and help out where they can. So many of these cars got dressed up after 72 because of the hyd cam, iron Intake and quadrajet. The reality was they weren't that much slower to begin with. In the GM parts books they actually make a note about changing the hyd cam and lifters to the solid and to make the lash adjustments accordingly. Post some pics and good luck.

My 1974 Z28 did not have this type of timing cover on it. The timing tab was separate and it used 2 bolts from the cover to mount it.
