    Hi All,

OK, I've been through various stickies and "tire and wheel sets" thread. Tried hard, but sorry, I'm just not finding what I'm looking for. I know a bunch of you guys know this so I'm asking straight-up:

    On 1973 Z28:

I want the widest rear wheel possible given:
    1. no cuts to interior fender well flange* (sorry, just don't want to do it)
    2. raise suspension as needed without air shocks (I get it; everyone hates air shocks; I've searched high and low for alternative and come up empty)

*YES! I will happily hammer the rear seating bulge inside wheel well so that a wider wheel can be installed.

    Thanks,

    Don

What diameter rim and when you say raise the suspension as needed, you mean you don't mind if the tire sticks out past the wheel arch?

A 15x8 with 4.5BS with either a 275 or 295 will fit with no mods

If you want the tire to stick out of the wheel well or rub on the fender lip or leaf spring 275 is the safest size. 17x9 with zero offset with a 275 is what I ran.

I have seen stock cars with 295+ but they don't fit and look like it.

Also consider not all tires are equal. Some tires are advertised as 295s, 315s etc but they are realistically a smaller tires. A real 315 tire will not tuck into a sec gen without mods.

^^^ Yep, that's the other problem when choosing tires, Not all profiles are created equal.

Yup, if you search the forums for 'widest tires' you'll find a few threads with details and pics
