70 console lid with keyed lock
Never could figure out how some had keyed lids. Luck of the draw? Saw more of these on Chevelles
I think the keyed console lids might be more with deluxe interior versus standard interior.. Or maybe one of the mid year cost saving changes?
My Deluxe interior car did not have it. It's an 04B so relatively early. No note in the AIM on the Z87 page or on the D55 A5 page. The D55 only lists a part number of 3984481 (Case Asm Lock Cyl). and clearly shows it non-keyed. I always thought it may have been a dealer level thing. The customer wanted a keyed compartment or something.
The AIM does show a change on 1-15-70 from pn 3972993, but it Googles to an un-keyed version too.
I did some searching and it's been reported been used in 1970 on a 03E car . That's the latest I found . Anybody know of any used later, on an original car . speak up ! Thank You
FWIW... My 03C dated Norwood car with standard interior has no console lock. My previously owned 03B dated LA car with deluxe interior had a console lock. Both cars had original unmolested interiors.
