Ignorance on my part. I understand now that it was an operational system at one time. Since none of the AIS equipment was left on our LT1, I assumed it wasn't originally installed or required. Guess since inspections for registration weren't required in the '70's that removing all the AIR, AIS, CSS, etc. equipment was no big deal. Something new learned every day.

All 70 Z28's got the AIR pump/tubes. The 1st thing guys did when they received the cars was
remove the smog and pitch it in the garbage and install headers.

The AIR holes already have plugs in them.
I don't think you need to worry about the tubes at all.

If it's just for engine break-in... Bolt 'em on and fire it up!

Kinda thinking that. Except that they are in need of a good media blasting session to get some of the years of rust scale off, just to get a set of gaskets to seal. Wondering if the media blasting will damage the tubes at all anyway.

Slip pieces of vacuum hose over the tubes when you media blast... It will protect them.

Might be simpler and cheaper to throw a cheap set of headers on there. I’d bet that you could find a set cheap on Craigslist...even in Fairbanks ;):D

Whats the consensus on the repop manifolds? They look decent to me. The date codes are stuck on E 28 8. what are the differences other than the dates from OEM?
