Hi guys, I got the block back from machine shop, pistons installed, somethings not making sense to me .
With No 1 piston at TDC , crank gear is slightly to the right from 12 oclock
Pointing the Crank gear at 12 oclock, piston is down in the hole about 1/2 in or so
The gear has 3 keyways, but is in the middle keyway
Ive built a few 350's but not a stroker, is this right?
Can you guys steer me the right way here?
    Doesn't seem right to me

I'm confused on the question....A Chevy SBC operating design is the same regardless of the crank stroke. Are you talking about the cam gear and the key way on the crank? Is it an adjustable 3 position? (Advance/Retard/Normal).

On a slightly different but related topic, might want to give a moment of silence for Joe Sherman, considered the father of the 383 SBC. He passed away last week.
He started building 383's in the 70's. RIP Joe.

Yeah, I probably didnt word it right , lol
I think I found the problem tho, the jerk who built this short block for me last summer, with a ton of problems,
( which is why im going thru it again). He really screwed me !
The crank gear does not have a mark on it , yes it is a 3 way crank sprocket. I going to get a new set today, I'll keep you guys posted on this

If you're saying there is no dot, triangle, and I think a square on the lower sprocket, look on the other side. My Coyles has 3 distinct marks on it.

The gear the jerk put on it had no marks, was confusing me for a minute.
I purchased a Comp Cams gear set today , Its all good now, and a tight chain ...
Pan and Heads go on tomrw night ..

The engine is now almost done, need to Install the pan, ( parts guy forgot to order it yesterday ).
It will go on tonight, a few pulleys and ready to go back in car, everything went together well, so I'm happy with the build. Be a bit before it goes in car tho.
