I've had my 1973 RS LT Z28 (automatic) since 1977. the lower parts of the doors/fenders/1/4s are semi flat back with a chrome molding above. Was that part of "LT" or "RS" option? also, I just converted to rear Disc Brakes ( w /emergency brake), and am going to install a rebuilt 1992 700R trans (driveshaft already cut). What is the best "Overall" rear end ratio for Both in town AND interstate MPG ? I used to drive the car everyday for 30 years, but the gas situation put a damper on that. Engine is orig 350 block +.030, 1970 350 300hp hydraulic cam,Q-jet on performer manifold and dual exhaust with AC. Opinions ?? Thanks

The lower moulding with the black underneath was part of the Type Lt model. 373s always seamed like the best all around gear to me. Let's see some pics , I'm building a 73Z Type Lt myself

will eventually post pics, but it looks like most 2nd gen that are on car mag covers, red/black stripes, Low 1970 Spoiler, black LT interior and is pretty much bone stock, but all rebuilt.

If your looking to be a little snappy with 300hp I'd go 3:73 if you want better MPG go 3:42 great over all gear.

Keep in my mind of your rpm . AC compressors don’t like high rpm . My 2001 Z28 had a ac cut off at like 5000 rpms .

1973 was hydraulic, first z28 that came with AC. no problems in the 42 years I've owned it.

I have had my '73 Type LT for 21 years. It never had rocker mouldings as far as I can tell. No holes or studs. I've thought about putting some on it as my '72 RS/SS had them and they looked sharp.

as I recall the fenders and 1/4s are bolt on clips, the doors are studded w/ screws on the ends

They also came with 3.42 rear with ac from the factory and 3.73 was not available .it didn’t have to do with the lifters , it was more the compressor shredding itself at high rpm .

Rear quarters have two studs IMG_0938.JPG IMG_0939.JPG and a clip hole. The front fenders have some mounting holes as well but I will have to get a picture.
