What is this best brand of repo rear bumpers?
I usually just go Classic Restoration or NPD. I will need for my 70 too so let's see if there's any other comments ?
I used an NPD bumper. Soon as I rechrome mine I'll be selling a pair.
I used the AMD bumpers on mine. Fit and finish was good and they were of heavier gauge than some other reproductions I've seen. The rear bumper is of the '73 profile...there is a slight difference.
Is the NPD its own (private label) brand, made off shore...
I have a OER brand that I bought from Classic Industries/Classic Camaro
looks very good but I havent installed yet.
AMD website indicates that AMD makes the rear bumper themselves.
Retails at $159.....not sure what Jeg's or Summit sells for ???
Chuck, I've heard about the 73 rear bumper being different than 70-72 because of the 5 mph federal crash regulations. Also have seen some posts about the subject. I guess the flat part that runs along the front for length of the bumper is wider if my understanding is correct. Hopefully, that makes sense.
Are you saying that the AMD rear bumper is closer to the OEM one for a 73? I'm very interested. I've yet to see a 73 rear bumper in person and would love to find one for my car. Since that seems unlikely, a repop may be the next best thing.
I just looked at the AMD website and the one pic they have really didn't look any different to me than the 70-72. Would you have any pics you could share of the AMD rear bumper you have? Thanks.
Fbody has them for $120 shipped, anybody got one of these?
Nevermind, sold out on fleabay.
I got mine from Ground Up last year, they were having a big bumper sale. Very nice chrome.
haroldpo6, I didn't mean to hijack your thread. I apologize.
Hopefully, we'll hear back from Chuck. If AMD is closer to a 73 and that's what he's saying, I don't think you would want that one for your 70.
Mine came from bumper boyz at one of the swap meets. It's an original GM bumper. Chromes held up nice.
