Good morning everyone. My car is a 70 Camaro which was a 4 speed. I bought it with no interior or drivetrain. I now have a complete interior and drivetrain. Its going to be an auto. When I get the hump altered for the horseshoe shifter, what are the beackets needed to install the shifter and console?? And can they be bought aftermarket? Thanks in advanvce!
When I helped a bud work on his 70, we discovered the console just sitting on the hump, not a console car I would say, we found a 70 at Warhoops, it was a sweet junkyard that's now all gone, we removed the brackets, took measurements. The cōnsole button was still in the car, we needed that too. It's been a while, I think there was 2 mounts, you could make them.
You're going to need a brkt set which attach to the inserts installed in the floor. Classic Industries catalog shown.
I would remove the hump and sell it here to a member... most guys go the other way and need an affordable one.
Thanbks a bunch!! Im going to go onto to classic industries and order. I saw they are about 60 bucks!. And thanks for posting the diagram. I am saving that for reference. You guys in the group rock!
Might be worth doing an ebay search for the brackets there is a variety of prices always good to save a couple of bucks if you can.
Also if you are going to buy used brackets. Make sure the front one is for a automatic. The 4 speeds front bracket is different but the other 2 are the same.
Technically, the front and center brackets are different for a manual trans console applications The center bracket for an auto trans console is shorter than the manual version by approx. 1/8". Just get the proper center bracket to avoid fitment issues.
