Is the last digits of the VIN number "sequence number" suppose to match the numbers in upper right corner of the cowl tag.

no, The cowl tag is a body, the VIN is the build sequence

ok that is what I was thinking just wanted to confirm. If you had questions on trying to confirm if a car was real Z28 what thread would you post them in, I'm kind of new to this site.

Vin,Trim Tag and Drivetrain Decoding forum for determining what the TT means or if the VIN is in sequence with the build date. Other questions may go in Original Drivetrain or elsewhere.

Only one way....Documentation. Only Norwood cars has "Z28" on the trim tag. Any car can be faked...Only the paperwork will prove it. Some people are bad at faking Z28s and there are tell-tell signs.

FYI....VIN and Trim Tag technical decoding info here---> http://www.nastyz28.com/decode.html

As mentioned above, asking Q's in the Original Drivetrain section is probably your best bet for help determining if it's real or not. It's a lot easier if it's a Norwood car since Z/28 is identified on the trim tag. LA cars don't have Z/28 identified on the trim tag.

Also know that prior to June 1970 it was missing the Z on the Z28 in the trim tag. It would look like 28.10 (white stripes) or 28.19 (black stripes)
