Hello, I am restoring a 1970 Camaro with a 383 chevy performance paried with a 700R4 Transmission. The car had a different shifter than the Horseshoe style I am going back in the car with. Question, I purchased a standard 32 inch shift cable but seems way to long. Everything else in the car, IE center console and shifter are in the correct position. Am I missing something. Cause it sure doesnt seem correct.
    Thanks JEff

As you know, the 700R4 wasn't original in that car, so the original shifter cable for a different transmission might not be right for your combination.

Did you get the shifter from ShiftWorks or has it been modified to work with that transmission? If not, you may have some issues with selecting gears. If the cable is a bit long and fits both ends, it shouldn't be a problem, just loop the extra underneath. I bought some parts from ShiftWorks when I installed my 700R4 with B&M shifter, they were very helpful.
