I am swapping a 130 mph speedo for a 150 mph speedo. What is the difference between them other than the face plate? Do I need to have it re calibrated to my TH350 trans drive/driven gear?

    Any help is appreciated

    Thanks
    Tim

The speedometers should swap with no other changes required.

Speed accuracy is achieved via proper transmission gears.
Adjusting for a speedometer/odometer variance is the only thing that would require speedometer recalibration.

    Welcome to NastyZ!

    Good Luck!

    Thanks TM

So I can take the face plate off the 150 and put it on the 130?

    TIA

You cannot change the faceplate on the speedometers with a different one as that will cause it to read wrong.
You can directly swap different speedometers without causing error.

^this. And glad you asked!! Think of swapping your tachometer face for your speedo face, just ain't gonna work.

You can swap the faces, however, it may be difficult to find a speedometer shop to have it recalibrated.
Back when I first installed a tune port in my Camaro, I used the '81 gauge housing and speedometer head for the VSS and had to have it recalibrated when I swapped to the 150 face.
It is still in use to this day, though the VSS is no longer active, I'm using a 40 pulse VSS kit from jags that run.

The arrow shows the bar that is turned one way or the other to either tighten or loosen the tension of the spring. This is used to calibrate the speedometer.

    Leonard,

Thanks for the info! The speedo goes out Monday for Calibration!

Time to finish the rebuild and Bumble Bee will be alive.

Glad I could help. I'm no expert, just some tidbits of information I learned along the way. :)
