    Hi guys,

I am in the process of building a new Dart Block based 427 SBC for my 81 Camaro. I will be using AFR 210 Race Ready Cylinder heads with angle plugs. Can anyone recommend from experience a 1 3/4" Full Length header that will fit well with the angle plugs?

    Thanks!

For 9" deck height the Hooker Super Competition worked well in my 73. AFR exhaust ports are .100" higher position over stock for the 210 heads.

Yup, the Hooker 1 3/4" worked well in my car when I had a SBC in it. Changing plugs was a breeze and it was much easier to get at the starter also.

I use the Hooker Super Competition ones #2117, fits both the Sportsman ll and Canfield heads well, both angle plug.

To be honest those heads are a little small for a 427 sbc you should atleast get the 215cc or 220cc . Also i suggest you get a hold of Chris straub Straub @ camshafts to set you up with a camshaft that's matched to your car. i just went through this with my 427 . He will also tell you that the correct header size should actually be bigger than 1.75 primaries and closer to 1 7/8 " . But that would require a custom built set from Lemons 1500+.

Thanks a lot for all the suggestions guys, I really appreciate it. I just don't want to get a set and find they don't work because with headers you are kind of stuck with them!

    Thanks a lot!

I had a stroked 396 sbc with those same afr heads. I used both the 1 3'4" Doug's headers and the Hooker Super Comp 1 3/4". Both of them worked fine with no fitment or spark plug issues. Actually, I think the angle plug heads were a breeze for replacing plugs...

That is good to hear because a couple of the plugs by the AC box are a bit of a pain to get at right now! I have just put on an AC Delete plate also though so that will help too.

I have been doing a lot of looking and am thinking of going with either the Dougs D324 1 3/4" Headers or Dynatech 740-29310 1 3/4" to 1 7/8" Stepped headers. is anyone running either of these headers in a Second Gen Camaro that could share some insight on how well they fit?
