image.jpg Was just messaging a guy on FB that owns this 72 with these guards on the rear bumper. He said they were on there when he got it, first I thought they were 73 fronts on the rear but they look a little bigger then my 73s. Did they ever come with guards that big on the rear?

Back in the day there were several after market companies that offered bumper guards for many car models.

They were commonly sold by the aftermarket when these cars were newer. They were especially popular for the front of the 70-72 Camaros as the front grille is in a vulnerable position without bumper guards. Within a few years of use on the street, many 70-72s had their front grille punched out by people backing into them while parking. The aftermarket guards prevented that.
