SEMS paint question
I used SEMS Landau black on all my interior plastic pieces. Everything turned out great!! I was wondering if the same stuff can be used on the metal A pillars, and upper metal front and rear glass trim pieces?? I would like these metal pieces to have the same sheen as the rest of the plastic interior pieces. I read the can, as well as looked around their website. I saw no mention of using the SEMS on metal.
Any others do this??
Thanks!

Yes, you can use it on metal surfaces(I've done it several times). However, if you have any bare metal exposed you should use a primer before spraying the SEM.

Cool, thanks for the reply!! I would think since it is a flexible paint, that it would hold up great on a stable surface such as steel.

I was curious about this as well. I took a kick panel and a a pillar with me and went my local autobody store. I was thinking since it's metal I need a spraybomb mixed and matched for this. I was told as long as I scuff the parts good. the sem dye will stick to metal just fine. I sprayed mine and came out with not so great results. I wiped the parts down with wax and grease remover and still had adhesion/fish eye problems. I ended up scuffing the parts and putting em in the bathtub with some dawn and water. I scrubbed the heck outta em and redid em no problems. So my advice make sure your parts are clean and spray away.

Guys we blast interior trim to bare metal all the time and lightly dust with a sealer then SEM them right up no problems no worries, I would not worry about primer even unless you are going to bare metal AKA blasting the parts.
