Holley carb finish - Restore

I just got my 4554 back from Holley and the finish looks a little too gold. Also I think some parts on there were plated gold and shouldn't have been. Heres pics.

Is this the correct plating for the time period?

I know their crappy pics (crappy camera) but can you make out anything thats the wrong color? I'll get better pics if needed

Anyone have a pic of an original or correctly restored 70 Z28 carb?

Smokin; (name?)

That finish is typical for the Holley resto shop. One of my customers recently had their carb done by Holley, you can read about it here if you'd like. (please pardon the gratuitous plug)

I'm extremely pissed looking at those carbs in all those pics and looking at this one from Holley. You guys probably know how much I paid. Just ridiculous. I'm kicking myself in the butt right now for not doing my homework.

No two ways about it I have to run the carb. We're taking the car out this week and next.

Eric, the names Kevin. I'll be talking to you soon

I'd complain and try and get some $$$ back and send them the links you find on what they should look like.

Kevin;

Just wondering if you've contacted Holley, and if so, what they had to say about all this.

You saw Holley's product. Heres Vintage Muscle Car Parts product. What a difference! Sorry the pics weren't taken on a better camera. It looks ALOT better in person. Eric caught alot of screw ups on Holleys part - cosmetic (ofcourse) & mechanical (undriveable). Holleys way of stripping and restoring a carb dampered this restoration a bit. What he had to work with was crap but still he took the unsound carb made it look and work like something worth putting (and more) on a '70 Z28. If I didn't send it to Holley I'd have a 10 out of 10 carb.

Heres a better pic. Still leaving some quality out that should be seen
Thanks, Eric

Kevin;

Thanks for the kind words, they're sincerely appreciated. It was a pleasure doing business with you as well.

I don't know what process Holley is using these days for their restorations, but it sure is difficult to re-work.

Eric

(p.s. re: pics--if you move the camera back from the carb and then zoom back in on it, the flash won't "blow the color off" so much. About 3' away seems to work well for me)
