upper control arm shafts.

has anybody used the new style upper shafts on the front upper arm. i dont know what the point is with the positive camber design. or were these designed to fix the angle on the front end with bad body bushings. mine have stripped threads on i end of each and 3 bad nuts so im looking for replacements for my 1979 trans am. any help would be greatful.

I take that you are referring to a set of "offset shafts"?

If so, they were originally designed to help hit stock alignment specs when frame sag threw the alignment out. A lot of people use them backwards so they dont have a great big stack of shims when trying to dial in more negative camber to compliment modern tires, suspension mods etc.

Before disassembly did the car have a good alignment? What is the intended use of the car?

the car drove perfect. its going to be a weekend driver im not looking at a mega handler but i might put some koni's on in a year or so and i have poly in my sway bar bushingsand body bushings. i have new stock replacement springs front and back and did the herb adams mod on the rear pearch. Did all the shafts from all the cars the same with different bushings or were all the shafts different? i got a lead on some good shafts off a 77 camaro and my car is a 79 ta. so would these work.

I believe that you will be alright with the stock style shafts. Maybe you could get an alignment shop to make you a deal on a before/after check when you do the replacement.
