295/50/16

I'm thinking about mounting 295/50/16 on my 16x8'' rims on the rear. What kind of problems will I run into? Is the tire just to wide for the wheel, or would it work?

If you are going to use a 295 width I wouldn't go with a wheel less than 9.5" wide and use a 5.5" backspace and all will be good.Or if you use a ten inch rim go with a 6" backspace, some one else on here can confirm I hope, personally I'm using 17" rims.
