If they come out at that price, GM might as well shut there doors! I'm not spending 35K for a Camaro when I can get a Vette for 10K more.
I love the new Camaro, but not that much. I can see paying 35K for the Z28 with a 6.0 completely loaded with upgraded wheels and shit. But a stock Camaro with a small V8 for 35K? GM is having a wet dream if they think the Camaro will save GM at that price.

Well, I wish they were less too as my wife wants one. But I remember her 98 Trans Am stickered for nearly $30K, and that was 9 years ago. Doesn't seem like a huge jump to me considering how things have gone up and hopefully how much nicer this car should be. Then again, it depends on what $35K gets you.
It would be nice if they could have had strippy V6 cars starting around $20K like the Mustang.

Yea, but the whole point of the Camaro used to be the cheap muscle car that the average person can afford. I'll be buying a Soltice for 22K before I buy a Camaro for 35K, or even a V6 Camaro for 25K. Or just spend a little more and get a slightly used Corvette. 35K for a stripped down V8 Camaro....no thanks they can keep it.

And, that's why they stopped selling the F-Body. They got too expensive and too close in price to the Corvette.

I think that the V8 version is supposed to be the 6.0L - which is not a "small V8" like the Mustang.
I would expect that the new base V8 Camaro will rival the top of the line (not talking Shelby or other "specialty" versions) Mustang in performance.
Let's put Ford's base V8 against the Chevy base V8 and see what happens...
And for that amount of performance (if I'm correct), $35,000.00 is very reasonable.

I couldn't agree with you more- especially for a new model year vehicle (who knows how many design defects come to light once production gets started)
IMHO, GM will be stepping on their own pecker if they don't make this car affordable to the masses.

Who says that for $35,000.00 it will be a stripped down car?
BTW, the Solstice is one cool car for $22,000.00 - the price that gets you just an everyday driver quality car today.
Why people think you can get a true V8 muscle car for that kind of money just baffles me???
Name me one V8 muscle car you can buy for that price - from any car company.

If that V-8 pricing is true, it' just plain stupid. GM is just wasting their time and money. Another GTO. A 4 year loan in that price range, with tax and a decent down payment, put you in the 600 to 700 a month range. Don't know about you guys, but that's a lot of money for a hobby car I'm gonna drive half the year. The competition in that price bracket would be pretty tough too. Lots of nice cars out there for 35K.
I'd like to see a stripped version of the V-8 for 20K. Steel wheels, no power windows, no power seats, no leather, no Bose sound system, no OnStar, no a/c.... just like you could have bought a Camaro back in 69.

35K is the SAME price most people have NO problem paying for a truck that they have ZERO use for.
Cars aren't cheap. 35K sticker would more than likely be around a 30K actual price.

And they'd sell how many of these cars?
They are building what will sell. Not a street legal race car.
LOOK at what you get for $20,000 in a new car today. Aces has how much money in a USED LS1 and tranny with no warranty? Last I heard it was around $12,000.00.

That was back when the average person could afford to fill up their tank with gas.
Put it in perspective.
1970
Cost of a new home: $26,600.00
Median Household Income: $8,734.00
Cost of a first-class stamp: $0.06 Cost of a gallon of regular gas: $0.36
Cost of a dozen eggs: $0.62
Cost of a gallon of Milk: 1.15
Nicely optioned Camaro around $3,800.
Multiply everything (except milk and stamps) by 10. The average income was $8,700, or about 2.3 times the price of the Camaro. That's where we are today and the price seems right in line. $38,000 for a nicely optioned Camaro.
