Anyone know how to remove....

Trying to restore an AC/Heater control switch, the whole thing not just the fan switch. Does anyone have a good method of removing the knobs on the temp and function sliders? Have to get them off to get the controller apart.

Thanks

wrap a shop rag around a pair of pliers and gently rock the knob side to side while lightly pulling on it.

That should get them off with out damage.

It's been posted before, Take a key ring and thread the shaft into the key ring and pull the ring with pliers or vise grips.

Rhead007... Are you saying the whole arm comes out?

I've always thought the knobs come off as described above.

I haven't replaced the paper backing myself because I wasn't sure about this process.
(I chickened out trying to pull the knobs once.)

Bingo! and a little WD-40 didn't hurt either.
Thanks!
