Code 53 for 1970 is called "Camaro Gold" code 53 for 1971 and 1972 is called "Placer Gold"

Look at the various "Camaro info by Year" topics at the home page for this site. They show tiny color chips.

Color comparisons are really tough to do unless you can see the cars in person at the same time. Even if someone posts pics of their original paint jobs in these colors, you will still have a variance in the colors due to lighting and the camera.

i can give you a description, as ll the placer gold on my car has been painted over - it's a bright, greenish gold.. looks kinda like vomit

actually, there may be some left underneath something that was not removed... i'll see if i can get a photo... someone also once sent me a photo of an entire car painted placer gold, but i will need to do some digging for that one..

ok, so let me take a snap of my 71 placer gold.. it's only a couple of spots under some areas that the bodyshop didn't't deem worthy of removing the weatherstrip before painting....
