summit intakes
i was lookin at getting a new intake. right now i have an original torker that doesent match my combo. ive got a 76 350 with 882 heads,headers,600cfm edelbrock and a lunati#16 cam .458/.458lift 110lsa. what would work better with my combo the stage1 or stage2 summit intake. would either be better on gas mileage, cause when i went from a stock quadrajet intake to the torker it gave me a huge loss in gas mileage.

If your worried about the milage stick the Qjet back on there with a Edelbrock Performer intake. The Performer is only 15 bucks more.
A Qjet is easily capable of taking care of your engines demands at the HP and RPM level you are at right now.

Not to be a smart ass, Daves 76 RS, but milage and horsepower, and Inexpensive and horsepower used in the same sentence usually get banned from this site.
Just kidding ya. You need to make a sacrifice, horsepower or milage.
If you are looking for milage go to a bone yard and get a 2 barrel manifold and put a stock carb on it.

I get decent mileage with my engine. 13 to 15 mpg aint bad for what I am running.
I would get an RPM intake. The original Torker is notorious for lazy bottom end performance.

FYI on the summit intakes - they're probably the "professional products" ones in a summit box. i checked them out last time i was in the store, had the infamous "Made in XXXXXX" - ie not USA - label on the box.
edelbrock ripoffs.

I get pretty good gas milage too I think its more important to have a good tune, you can get better milage with a more efficient motor.

Where does your engine spend most of its tiime? What is your final drive ratio? I think you're better off using a Stage I, a Performer, or an Action Plus based on the stock heads and mild cam.

i spend most of my time from cruising around 2000 to 4500 when im playing around so it's not like i spend much time in the high rpm range. will i have to use an adapter to use my edelbrock 600 on a performer intake. also does the eps version really make 5 more horsepower.
