No pic yet, or lungs. Its got a std.std crank thats been polished, 3/8 dimple rods with polished beams, gm l88 std bore pistons. New cam, rod, main, bearings + rings. The two bolt block is also studded. Now Im thinking a set of highflowing small port req. heads or a set of good ovals for the time being. What I cant decide on now is a cam. Roller, hyd roller, hyd flat tappet, or solid. The only real goal for this motor is to run atleast 10:60s with pumpgas.
The fogger system for a little gigle.
Thinking: stock type pan and pump.
dart intake
HEI with a crank trigger
850 holley annualar
roller rockers good pushrods and back cut valves.
regular timing chain
cams: compcams hyd F.T. nitrous grind 250/264 @50 588/600 113ls
hyd roller nitrous grind 242/254@50 556/575 113ls
But its still early to pick cams without the topend being settled. Just been a little curious about these cams for a while though.

Carm the price is right. I was thinking about this for a while now. The money I was going to put into the other motor + the heads I was going to buy off a member here is the same amount that I would need to finish the sbc to take a pounding on the go go juice. I'll put it on a stand next to the sbc for now and try to concentrate on finishing most of the bodywork within the next couple of weeks. At which point I know which one to build. Ill be frank, Ill put the money into the bbc and probably try the sbc combo i already have just to put myself at peace of mind. If it blows oh well shit happens. If it doesnt then ill put it into the other Z for a streetcar.
But to be honest I havent had a good nights sleep for a couple of months not knowing my powerplant and poweradder. Now I know and more importantly have the adder. So instead of shrink and prozack ill buy the bbc have an expresso and go to bed.

I know, it's a a winter cabin fever things I guess. More and more poeple are deciding to have JACKSTAND QUEENS instead of a fast, running car. I guess it's so they can stand around the shop with their other jackstand buddys and sip cheap beer (because they cant afford anything else with the overpriced parts their pigblock requires) and talk about "When I get MY bigblock finished, it's gonna be...."
"Gonne be" sheezus, jackstands and gonna be,, when will you guys ever 'see the light' and realize not only will you be faster with a smallblock, but you'll be faster to get the pile finished and get to the track if you quit wasting time and money on the big ol lumbering slow pig iron. I mean,, pigblock cars are like the Exxon Valdeze,, it may have 15,000 HP per engine, but the big heavy POS still can only make 20knots.
In the mean time, Did I mention I went to the track yesterday, with my puny little smallblock, ripped off another new personal best before the overpriced, MF POS MSD distributor decided to eat up another rotor. But that's beside the point,,,, I'm STILL waiting for one of our own members to show me a 9.20 n/a pigblock door car........... I rest my case!

No no no no............... no jackstands for me Marv. In fact, if I would have went SB anf AFR's, I would still be waiting on the heads I'm sure. From the time I decided to start building a motor, it's gonna be less than 2 months to build and be on the road.

EEWWW, now that's not fair Marv,,,,not all of us can race during the winter.
You know I use to own a small block, problem was I could never keep a starter on it. Every time I buzzed the motor above 7K the starter would fall off. About the 3rd time it happened I finally asked my mechanic WTH is the problem with these stupid starters on these small blocks?? He said there ain't much he can do about it, it was some kind of engineering flaw and told me to either keep the RPM's down or get a Rat motor and be done with it. I asked him why doesn't it happen to a rat motor and he said the block was thicker,,,, with a puzzled look I asked what does that have to do with the starter and he said when the #8 rod lets go it wont go thru the block and knock the starter off.
Happy New Years everybody!!
BTW, today is my and my daughter's birthday

IMO I wouldn't go hyd. roller in the 427. The lifters are big and heavy and don't like any kind of over revving. I went through 2 cams and lifters because a rivet broke on the link bar before I went to a solid roller on my 427. I picked up .2 and never had anymore problems. Then I saw the light again (and it wasn't a hole in the block) and went back to a sb with the same cubes.
Happy birthday to the little one and Happy New to the rest.
