The fender lip refers to the 1/2" - 1" of sheet metal that bends in 90* at the bottom edge of the fender. Rolling the fender lip means bending the lip up ~180* flat against the inside of the fender. This can be done with a special dedicated tool or with a baseball bat wedged between the tire and the fender. The point of rolling the lip is to gain that extra 1/2" to an inch of clearance for wider tires.

I went with the Louisville Slugger route. It worked real nice, not sure if the tool was around when I rolled mine.

I phoned around to the local import shops until I found one that had this tool for rental. I think it was $100 for the day & so I had 3 other people come by & we did 4 cars in a few hours, cost us $25 each.
It worked OK but the tool was rather cheaply built & I had to weld it back together even before we started using it.

A 10 second street car, eh!
SBC 409, through the mufflers, on DOT radials, you know, like a street car should be.

Does this rolling the lip work on the front with inner fenders in the car? If so will a bat be able to do the front?

Even if you plan on tubbing the rear, it 'might' still be a good idea to roll the lips, so that you can set the tire closest to the quarter, so it looks better. I personally cant stand when the tire sits far behind the quarter skin.

Gmach, you cant roll the fronts with that tool, or a bat. The inner fender wont stretch to accomodate roller the fender lip up.
Also, if you somehow manage to do this, MAKE SURE THE BOLTS ARE OUT OF THE FENDER TO INNER FENDER. Otherwise, the bolts will push outward dimples into the fender body line.

The photos below show my body on a rotisserie, alot easier this way. I used a block on the outside with my jack pushing up while I slowly hammered with a rubber mallet untill I got what you see.
